NewLeaf Symbiotics Raises $24M

NewLeaf Symbiotics, which produces and sells Methylotrophic bacteria products for agriculture, has closed a $24M Series C round led by Monsanto Growth Ventures and Otter Capital. The round was also joined by Lewis & Clark Ventures, Rockport Capital, Open Prairie Ventures, among other investors.The company will be using this funding to commercialize their seed treatment as well as several products for soybeans, wheat, peanuts, and other crops. 

Formerly known as Trophomax, NewLeaf has been a longstanding supporter of the Ag innovation showcase since 2012, the year they presented. Founded in the Danforth Science center, the company has sinced moved to BRDG park in St. Louis. According to Tom Laurita, CEO, NewLeaf’s first product will come to the market at the end of 2017 or beginning of 2018.
